YOUR JOURNEY STARTS HERE
When you join The Bar Athletics family as a new member, and you are at the beginning stages of your fitness journey, you will start with our Foundations Program. This short but impactful series is the first building block for your Bar Athletics experience. It begins with a mobility assessment where one of our professional coaches will analyze your functional movement capacity, which helps indicate your start point. Next, you will complete a series of 3 or 6 personal training sessions to get you familiar with new movements, class flow, and gym culture.
Each session is roughly an hour long and consists of:
Review of previous movements learned
Introduction to new movements
Short workout at the end of each session
What to Expect in Your Sessions
During these introductory sessions, you will be exposed to and become familiar with the types of movements and workouts you will perform in a group class or personal training setting at The Bar. Each movement will be explained in-depth and you will be provided modifications that will allow you to scale movements based on your skills and capabilities.
After reviewing how to perform an exercise, you will, perhaps most importantly, learn the “why” behind each movement. This deeper understanding provides encouragement to build solid training habits that will enable you to successfully reach your goals.
For those who have already completed an on-ramp series at another facility or who have been cross-training for a minimum of 6 months are not required to complete the Foundations Program, but must take the mobility assessment.
Once you have completed the required sections of the Foundations Program, you will be cleared to begin group training classes.
The Overall Goal:
Prevent Injuries and Build You Up
The top goal of our Foundations Program is to prevent injuries from occurring. For us to reduce the risk of injury, you will be educated by a professional coach based on your body, experience, and capabilities and instructed on how to perform the movements correctly. Simply put, the more a coach can be involved in guiding you, the less likely an injury will occur. We want you to participate with confidence in the movements and how to scale them accordingly.
Don’t feel like you are the only one doing this. Everyone starts here. As you learn proper movement, you will also get to know the mindset and culture of The Bar Athletics. Since our inception, we have worked diligently to build a positive and encouraging atmosphere that enables people to grow. As you look across the room, remember that all of those individuals were once standing in a similar spot to you. It doesn’t matter where you are on your fitness journey. What matters is that you come with an open mind, show up consistently, and focus on making small improvements every day.
